How Does Wireless Charging Work?
Wireless charging may feel like magic, but the idea behind it is simple. It uses electromagnetic induction to transfer power from a charging pad to your phone — without a cable.
The Basic Idea
Inside a wireless charger, there is a transmitter coil. Inside your phone — or in a wireless charging receiver attached to your phone — there is a second coil. When electricity passes through the transmitter coil, it creates a magnetic field. The receiver coil picks up this magnetic field and converts it back into electricity to charge the battery.

- A phone with wireless charging built in — or a wireless charging receiver that adds this feature to your existing phone.
Does Alignment Matter?
Yes. For efficient charging, the receiver coil should be centered over the transmitter coil. If the coils are misaligned, charging may be slower or may not start at all. Many receivers have a visible coil outline to help you align them correctly.
